Doug Ber’s God Appointment

Over 4 years ago , Troy came to my front door and asked if he could clean my gutters. Not unusual, except that it was the end of November and about 25 degrees. He wasn’t wearing a coat and said this is what he did in the winter, but was normally a tree cutter. I appreciated his work ethic, but told him I didn’t need my gutters cleaned, but did have a tree that I needed cut down, but it was in Brown county at our cabin. He convinced me to give him the address and in a few days, the tree was down.
I still am in contact with Troy and his network of tree cutters, many of whom have been in and out of jail for various reasons. I have had many God appointments with them and have always had a heart for those less fortunate than myself. Because of this initial appointment, I have become involved with ministering in the Hamilton County Jail as well and have met several of his friends throughout the years. I have been able to show them the love of Christ and how grace trumps the law and can set them free, whether behind bars or not.
Yesterday, Troy called me and said one of his friend’s Mom’s was in the hospital and wasn’t expected to live. I was able to visit her today, read to her about God’s love, assured her of her Heavenly home since she knows Christ and prayed with her for her healing. The last thing she asked was that I pray for her children who don’t know the Lord. More God Appointments!
